White Ware Tea Bowl
Late T'ang Dynasty
(A.D. 618-906)
Height 4.3cm
Diameter of mouth 14.6cm
In the T'ang period,
tea was drunk from a bowl.
Lu Yu's "Classic of Tea"
praises greenware tea
bowls as the finest,
followed by white ware.
The straight ring foot at
the base of this bowl,
and its lipped rim, are
typical of the late T'ang
style.
